Students who have graduated and participated in the NEA Summer Program for
Undergraduate Research at UMass Amherst are eligible to apply for admission
to the UMass Amherst NEAGEP Internship Program. During the Fall term, interns take graduate level courses or courses to prepare them for graduate
school and they work in the laboratories of faculty mentors. They receive
a stipend and the program pays tuition, health insurance and most fees. If
interns perform satisfactorily in the laboratory and in classwork, their
contracts will be renewed through the next semester and the summer. They are expected to apply to graduate school during the fall semester of the
program. They will also participate in mentoring and professional
development programs coordinated by Dr. Barbara Pearson.
